Beatles Poster Review

Rock and The King

"Throughout their careers, the Fab Four produced some classic picture posters including their Abbey Road cover photo and their black jackets shot. However, it wasn't until they released The Yellow Submarine film in 1968 that their graphics artwork drastically altered the landscape of rock art and advertising in general. The happy, peaceful images of blendo-style art infused bright colors with flowers, butterflies and psychedelic patterns into all forms of visual media and were immediately adopted by the hippie culture as a motif of choice. Through the dominant influence of their music, the Beatles posters, and their artwork overall, became icons or rock."

"John, Paul, George and Ringo each had a wonderfully distinctive personality. Collectively, the Beatles posters are a wonderful way to track the growth of each member's career. Individually, posters such as the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover photo and John Lennon's 'All we are saying is give peace a chance,' did a magnificent job of capturing the mood of the times for the baby-boom generation. For those moments in time, the Beatles music defined the passion, enthusiasm and tragedy of an age. We love their posters because they help us remember those times."
